Hurrica Restaurant and Bar

A modern American restaurant with a live-fire culinary experience, Hurrica is the newest waterfront restaurant in Redwood City on the San Francisco Peninsula, featuring spectacular views of the Westpoint Harbor. The restaurant is named in honor of the classic Hurrica V sailing yacht. Built 100 years ago, the historic sailing yacht embodies the style and glamour of the roaring twenties, was featured in the Oscar-winning movie The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, and whose attention to detail in her restoration stretches the imagination.

Hurrica’s co-founding partners, Chef Parke Ulrich and MeeSun Boice, the powerhouse team behind San Francisco’s Mersea Restaurant and Bar, set out to strip away the formalities of stuffy fine dining and instead focus on the highest caliber of food & wine, while creating an atmosphere of comfortable elegance and belonging. With a glass kitchen in the heart of the nearly 8,000 square foot restaurant, guests can see visually-stunning, live-fire cooking taking place, with dishes prepared “From the Hearth” – above open flames, on the grill or in the embers. A statement-making wraparound calacatta viola marble bar prominently anchors one of the main dining spaces, overlooking Hurrica’s expansive, custom-built, floor-to-ceiling, jellyfish aquarium, constructed by the expert team at Tenji Aquarium Design + Build.

Furthering its allure, the restaurant offers the rare opportunity to arrive by land or sea, or visit the take-out “H2Go Cafe” by land or boat. Fully built from the ground up by general contractor Ron Taylor & Terra Nova Industries, the location’s second floor is dedicated entirely as the new clubhouse for “The Club at Westpoint,” a water sports club which offers sailing, kayaking, SUP and other water-based events.
